I am running WF4 so it may be a little different picks but here is what you need to do. First you will have to make copies of the lines to have an enclosed section that you want to fill and group them to the view. Then pick all lines of the sketch RMB and pick hatch/fill. Change the angle and spacing then click add line in the hatch dialog box. It will prompt you for a new angle, offset and spacing. If you already have a hatch (x-sec) you just modify the hatch hit add line and follow the steps above.
Paste this into your acad.pat and VOILA beautiful diamond tread.; Hatch pattern to draw diamond pattern tread as often found in steel and; aluminum flooring.; Append this file to your ACAD.PAT file.dimndtrd, Diamond pattern tread. Written by Michael M. The DIA-PL-1 version is the one you asked for ('-1' means single-line, just the short lines, for smaller scales); DIA-PL-2 is 'double-line', meaning the diamond-shapes are outlined. The origin point in both cases is the center of one of the lower-left-to-upper-right-oriented elements (line or diamond).
